Seriously, wtf? Oxidized copper? The new graphics for all my gallente ships look like total crap. Dominix went from a nice rich dark brown and bronze to light copper and oxidized green. Oxidized. In space. You want to explain that to me? Even more, you want to explain why the improved graphics warranted a complete color change? The detail is great but LEAVE THE COLORS THE SAME. That's not complicated. I've been playing and paying for this game a long time and this is the first time I've considered cancelling (yeah go ahead and tell me to shut up, I won't, it's the truth so deal with it). Yeah the new colors are account-cancelling bad.
CCP, change the colors back.

Quote: 1.1 What is EVE Online?
EVE is a massive multiplayer online game (MMOG) set in a science-fiction based, persistent world. Players take the role of spaceship pilots seeking fame, fortune, and adventure in a huge, complex, exciting, and sometimes hostile galaxy.

Quote: Join more than 250,000 pilots in a real-time, intergalactic battle for power, honor and prestige, all within one persistent, real-time universe.
Persistent universe. PERSISTENT universe, it's the primary feature of MMOGs. It is the contract that major aspects of your character and the world remain consistent. It's what makes people pay month after month, the illusion of another persistent world.
Since there is no character model in EVE, the thing that represents the player is the ship. (No it's not your cheesy little avatar, you don't see that in game, it's your ship.) When you first create a character and choose a race, you choose based on that race's ships. At least half of that choice is what they look like, the other half being how they perform.
To completely change the look, the material of the ships of an entire race, the in-game representation of a fourth or more of EVE's players, that completely violates the point of a persistent universe.

What is it with you children that think any opinion of change different from your own is "whining"? What sheep you are, you hear one person use the term and parrot it ad infinitum. Whining, whining, whining, yeah that's all it is. It's not like anyone would have a valid reason to find fault with these changes, oh no, it's just whining. Sickening.

Edited by: Galton Grimm on 08/12/2007 17:46:07 It's a real head scratcher. The Amarr, Minmatar and Caldari ships still have the same character, look like they're made of the same material, and they look better with the new graphics. The shiny reflective plates on the Amarr look perfect against the duller gold body, the minnie and caldari ships are the same color as before but more metallic. I don't understand why the Gallente ships got a total revamp complete with oxidation. I imagine it's a reference to the statue of liberty, since the gallente are the space french, but there's not enough oxygen in space for copper to oxidize. Yeah it's an interesting effect but...that's an awful lot of light green when you see it plastered across the giant shoe that is a Dominix or Vexor. And the Hyperion, that used to be a dark ominous ship with bright green lights and now it's pretty lame looking.

Following that logic then all posts in every thread of every forum on this site can be ignored, since the majority of players haven't commented in each thread. /applaud

Disagreeing is fine. Dismissing as whining, that's cheap. There's a huge difference. The first is a conversation, the second is a drive by.

The first few seconds after seeing the new colors on my beloved ships were a real shock, but I have gotten more used to it especially since it fits in with the shiny/oxidized gold/lead/steel/copper T1 race theme. You gotta admit it's a huge change from before for the Gallente whereas the other races got a recognizable improvement.
And no, none of you can have my stuff.

Can't tell the colors from pics of a docked ship, the station light colors everything.
The ships should look like medium copper, not light copper, and not dull brown. From these pics they maybe went too far in the opposite direction making the ships have little color at all. If they're too desaturated and dark they'll just look like caldari and minmatar lead and steel. But again it's hard to tell from docked pics. Fingers crossed, let's hope some tweaking happens before it goes live.
And thanks CCP for listening!

Usually you can choose whatever color you want for the text. You're talking about the text-based MUDs you prefer to play, right, since graphics are irrelevant? What are you even doing posting to a thread about color when you've repeatedly stated you think graphics are irrelevant?
Me, I like graphics. I choose a game based on the graphics, and continue to play based on gameplay.
The new darker colors for Gallente T1 ships on the test server are an improvement over the Trinity light colors. I still like the copper (the lighter of the two colors) of the original Dominix, it was shiny metallic and richly saturated but not too bright, and different from the other 3 races' T1 colors.
Maybe the new Trinity color needs some more red to make it more coppery? Going to take some screenshots into Photoshop and play with it.
Oranges and browns are difficult colors to create, if you've ever tried to pick a certain shade of brown with a color wheel you know there's a very small area that describes it.
Pretty nice of CCP to actually try different colors on the test server.

Exactly. You're trolling. Stop. You have no interest in the discussion other than to be disruptive. Go do something else.
